The exhibition “Arts & Science” reveals itself on closer inspection: it presents images from the micro world of scientific fundamental research at the cluster of excellence CUI (Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging) – wavelike shapes and colour explosions, but also direct images recorded with electron microscopes.

The members of the cluster of excellence were asked to hand in appealing scientific visualizations; a jury including experts from science and art then chose the pictures most suitable for the exhibition – from a purely aesthetic point of view.

“Arts & Science” was shown for the first time from 1-15 June 2017 in the foyer of Hamburg’s City Hall. It is designed as a traveling exhibition, comprising 30 scientific visualizations, 14 photos of laboratories and experiments plus four information boards. All posters are printed in DIN A1 format on Alu-Dibond.

The exhibition was also presented from 24 August until 7 September 2017 due to the event of the start of user operation as well as from 4 until 22 Mai 2018 due to the Open Day at European XFEL in Schenefeld.
