Working in an international environment for the world’s brightest X-ray source
European XFEL will be a new research facility of superlatives. It will generate ultrashort and extremely bright X-ray flashes for studies in disciplines like physics, chemistry, life sciences, and materials research.
The European XFEL will comprise a superconducting electron accelerator, magnet structures for the generation of the X-ray radiation, photon beamlines, and scientific instruments for a wide range of experimental techniques.
Research and development of the technology and instruments used is progressing steadily while the facility is under construction. User operation will start in 2017.
