The European XFEL users’ meeting begins this week, providing an opportunity for networking and collaboration between European XFEL and the scientific user community. For the first time since 2020, the meeting is held in person at the DESY campus in Hamburg, jointly with the DESY Photon Science Users’ meeting. Over 1100 scientists are expected to participate, alongside an industrial exhibition featuring over 40 companies.

The meeting takes place from 23 to 27 January, and will include updates on and discussions surrounding scientific highlights from all six European XFEL experiment stations as well as developments in instrument design and commissioning of our new seventh station, the soft x-ray port (SXP) instrument. Updates will also be provided on current developments in the field of XFEL facilities globally. The users’ meeting will also include workshops and in-person poster sessions.

“At the future Science City in Hamburg, we have three of the world’s best X-ray light sources and a number of renowned research centers and experts, with the potential to aid in solving some of the world’s most pressing global challenges, from sustainable energy to improving pharmaceutical treatments for disease. X-ray light will play an important role in protecting our environment and our society,” says Robert Feidenhans’l, managing director of European XFEL.
