Under this year’s motto of ‘Structure and Symmetry’, the European XFEL exhibition explained the technology and science of the unique research institute, featuring a niobium accelerator cavity and a film presentation of the facility. The event was hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the German Physical Society (DPG), and the University of Münster (WWU). The event takes place every year in a different German city. In 2018, the festival will take place from 17 to 22 September in the Dortmund city centre under the theme ‘physics in medicine and sport’.
