In the new European XFEL exhibition and conference centre Lighthouse, the Well Wired Team is exhibiting three expansive wire objects. They are inspired by molecular structures and electron density maps that are being researched at the European XFEL. The surfaces of the three-dimensional wire objects serve as 2-dimensional reflection surfaces for projectors.
This creates 3-dimensional, moving motifs that correspond to the molecular structures and electron density maps on the one hand and are pleasantly graceful, captivating and calming on the other. European XFEL and the Well Wired team make the invisible visible and show how fascinating new creations emerge from a kind of "dimensional leap".
The installation is accompanied by sounds that emphasise the atmosphere of the installation, but at the same time represent an independent element. Light and sound complement each other and emphasise their respective effects.
At the vernissage of the ‘Strahlzeit’ exhibition, a large audience took the opportunity to discover the exhibition as well as the new visitor center Lighthouse. Among the 120 guests was the mayor of Schenefeld, Christiane Küchenhof, art lovers, artists and employees of European XFEL. As host, the Chairman of the European XFEL Management Board, Prof. Dr Thomas Feurer, took the guests on a journey to the interfaces of art and science, of the visible and the invisible.
