Sample Preparation and Characterization

The European XFEL User Laboartoies are equipped with a wide range of sample preparation and characterization equipment. For Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Material Science experiments, samples can be characterized and in many cases prepared.

Sample Characterization methods include scattering methods, such as dynamic light scattering or X-ray diffraction, Imaging methods using optical light, electrons or atmic force microscopy, and light and electrcon spectroscopy. The XBI Bilogy Laboratories are fully equipped for protein purification and crystallization and for characterizing crystal slurries and other liquid samples. Nanoparticles can be analyzed both in liquids and in aerosols.
