Engaging the public at Schenefeld mall in town centre
European XFEL answers questions from neighbours and interested public
Starting in 2017, the town of Schenefeld will be hosting scientists from around the world who will come to use the ultrabright and ultrashort X-ray flashes of the European XFEL for their research. On 12 September, representatives from the facility met with some of the town’s citizens and the facility’s neighbours at Stadtzentrum Schenefeld shopping mall, located in the downtown area, to present the scientific opportunities made possible by the X-ray free-electron laser, as well as the construction and installation progress of the facility. The two-hour long event included a question-and-answer session with the approximately 50 people who attended.
