Council Chair and Vice-Chair re-elected
Robert Feidenhans'l and Pavol Sovák confirmed in office
At its meeting on 8 and 9 February, the European XFEL Council re-elected Chair Robert Feidenhans'l and Vice-Chair Pavol Sovák for a second two-year term. The European XFEL Council is the supreme organ of the company, functioning as the shareholders assembly and deciding on important issues of company policy.
Robert Feidenhans’l is a professor of Nanophysics at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen. He is internationally recognized as an experimental nanophysicist developing new methods and X-ray techniques for the exploration of the nanoworld. His first term in office as Chair of the Council started in February 2010, shortly after the founding of the company.
Pavol Sovák is a professor at P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, Slovak Republic. His research interests include observing relationships between structure and magnetic properties of amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray techniques.
