InternalInfo point on tunnel construction at Osdorfer Born
On 22 February 2011, a European XFEL information point for local residents was opened in a shopping centre at Osdorfer Born.

Until the end of March, there is now a European XFEL “Info Point Tunnel Construction” between the beauty salon and the pharmacy in the shopping centre Bornheide. Inside the former snack bar, local residents living in the vicinity of the X-ray laser tunnel can find out more about the new research facility and the tunnel construction works that will take place underneath their homes in the coming weeks. Exhibition panels, posters, flyers, and a 13-minute information film explain the tunnel works. In addition, a staff member of the European XFEL is on the spot during the main store hours to answer the questions of the residents.
Since January, the tunnel boring machine TULA (Tunnel for LAser) has been drilling the two-kilometre-long accelerator tunnel, which runs under residential areas. TULA is currently passing beneath the district Osdorfer Born in which the info point was established.
