Fellowships for research with free-electron lasers
The Volkswagen Foundation offers young scientists the opportunity to carry out research at the US X-ray laser facility LCLS and get experience for the future European XFEL operation.
With a Peter Paul Ewald Fellowship young scientists can do research at today’s most advanced X-ray source: the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), operated by Stanford University. The Volkswagen Foundation started its initiative to support pioneering research with free-electron lasers in 2010 and now awards the fellowships for the second time.
Prof. Massimo Altarelli, Managing Director of the European XFEL GmbH, said: "We very much appreciate these fellowships, which prepare young scientists with different backgrounds for the completely new research opportunities at the European XFEL."
Next deadline for applications is 25 January 2012. For further information please see the pdf file.
