High speed liquid microjet targets in EUV/XPS experiments

Speaker: Manfred Faubel (Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik und Selbstorganisation, Göttingen)

Date: Thursday, 13 January 201, 14:00-15:00 (room AER19/4.14)

Location: room AER19/4.14

High speed liquid microjets are finding increasingly uses as targets in physical-chemical experiments with high intensity Lasers, EUV and soft X-ray radiation. In addition, they allow for high vacuum surface science studies on liquid water and aqueous solutions. Production techniques, physical stability limitations and, the decay dynamics of liquid jets in air and in vacuum are considered in a first part of this seminar. In a short summary of current research, studies employing and exploiting microjets are illustrated by examples from XPES spectroscopy of inner core and valence states in aqueous solution, near edge x-ray absorption, and, for a recent femto-second time scale Laser pump –photoelectron probe experiment on the solvated electron in water with hhg-produced table top EUV.
