Career development

European XFEL invests in the further education and development of its staff members.

Development wishes and needs are part of our feedback and agreement-on-objectives process, which is obligatory for all colleagues. Our offers of training do not only cover technical and functional know-how. We believe the development of social skills has at least the same importance.

For scientists in particular, it is essential to attend and to contribute to national and international congresses and workshops. We not only support such activities, but we also advance them.

Every international colleague and his or her partner have the opportunity to attend our free of charge in house German courses. At the moment 5 different classes on levels reaching from A1 to C1 are offered. In addition, every colleague is invited to improve his or her English knowledge through our in house classes. Currently there are two different levels offered, one for beginners and and one for those with more advanced skills.
